  • Beschreibung: A nostalgic depiction of the customs of the time, based on the theatrical play by the screenwriter. In old Athens a typical coffee-house keeper, Panagis, is in love with the sensitive and sickly Marina, who lives across his coffee house. Every morning, he leaves a flower in her window, without daring to confess his love for her. She meets a young and charming romantic poet Giorgos Drosinis, who frequents Panagis’ coffee house, and falls passionately in love with him. However, her strict mother, Erato, forbids her to have any contact with him. Drosinis, in turn, falls in love with Marina, while the beautiful girl’s doctor also proposes to her. Her mother, of course, accepts right away, but Marina refuses, as she is determined to wait for Drosinis, who is now in Germany for further studies. On the evening of Holy Saturday, the poet returns to be together with his beloved during the religious celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, while Panagis finds his own mate in Anna, Marina’s best friend, who has secretly been in love with him for a long time.
